New to the Essentials is this amazing value bubbly. For around $20 it is great value. It is a delicate rose gold in colour with loads of tiny bubbles. Mostly made from pinot noir, it has a delicate nose of strawberries and red cherry fruit with a hint of toast and mineral freshness. The palate is very smooth finely balanced with excellent length. Try with poached salmon or pastry based hors d'oeuvres. Tasted April 2011.

Quails' Gate Chardonnay 2016, BC VQA Okanagan Valley

(From Wine Align) This is a classy chardonnay - as bright as always but somehow just a bit more refined and perhaps lower in alcohol than the 2015 and earlier editions. Finely spicy, smoky and hazelnutty French oak is laid in amid peach, lemon and vaguely custardy/buttery notes. It is mid-weight, lively yet elegant with a spicy, nutty, slightly bitter finish. The length is very good to excellent.

This pours bright lemon-green. The nose is squeaky clean with generous kiwi, lemongrass, pear and florals. It is very bright on the palate as well, medium weight with generous fruit, zesty acidity and a touch of spritz. The length is very good to excellent.
