Pelee Island Gewurztraminer Riesling 2012, Ontario VQA

The Gewurztraminer and Riesling compliment each other nicely in this blend, both bringing slightly different flavours along with their sweetness. There are bountiful aromas of sweet peaches, lychee, and floral notes. The wine is quite full bodied, with a good finish. I feel their is enough acidity to balance out the sugar.

Santa Maria La Palma Villassunta Cannonau Di Sardegna 2008, Doc

Enjoyed this Cannonau more than the Cannonau Di Sardegna Riserva, and since Cannonau is Sardinia, Italy's local name for Grenache, I also perferred this to Spain's Castillo De Monseran Garnacha.

La Meridiana Le Gagie Barbera D'asti 2008, Docg

I highly enjoyed this wine, finding its nose to consist of strong plum with light vanillia and spice notes.

I found it's initial taste to be rather earthy, without all the sweetness the nose suggested.

After decanting it opend up nicely,

Lionel Osmin & Cie Malbec 2009, Ac Cahors

Very opaque and purple in colour. A soft nose of plum and minerals. Firm chalky tannins, with a strong flavour of licorice and earth. Medium finish.

Errazuriz Estate Pinot Noir 2010, Aconcagua Valley

This wine had a lively aroma of fresh cherries and raspberries, with subtle hints of smoke and vanilla. On the palate its flavours consisted mostly of crisp cherry with a light smokiness. Very soft tannins and well balanced acidity makes it easy to drink. Good finish.

Domaine René Couly Chinon 2009, Ac

This Cabernet Franc was a medium ruby red in colour. The nose consisted of cherry and blackcurrant, along with vanilla and a smokiness. Medium strength tannins and body. Flavours consisted of what was found on the nose, although slightly less intense. Good, velvety finish.

Casal Thaulero Sangiovese 2010, Terre Di Chieti, Abruzzo

A simple nose of red berry scents with earthy and plum notes. Sweet red fruit tastes with earthy notes adding a level of complexity. Low acidity, medium body and a firm finish.
Prefered this sub-$10 Sangiovese to the Farnese Sangiovese Daunia.

B B Q Barbera 2009, Piedmont

As to be expected with a young wine, it is ruby red in colour. On the nose it has sweet red raspberry, plum, and some soft spices. On the palate the fruit notes are less apparent than in the nose with mainly plum and licorice rounding out the flavour profile. Mellow tannins and a nice acidity to balance out this light-medium bodied wine.

Trapiche Astica Merlot/Malbec 2011, Cuyo

This vibrant ruby red wine, has aromas of sweet cherry and raspberry. On the palate it is dry with a medium body. Mostly red fruits with some earthiness. Medium tannins and a good finish. A basic red, but can't complain for the price.

Coyote's Run Five Mile Red 2010, VQA Ontario

This wine is made from a blend of 4 different grape varieties; 45% Pinot Noir, 40% Merlot, 8% Syrah, and 7% Cabernet Franc. It has an intense nose of cherry and plum, along with a good amount of black pepper. On the palate it has rather firm tannins and a medium+ body. A lot of minerality and earthiness, more so than the plum and pepper the nose suggested. Well balanced, medium finish.
