Cupcake Red Velvet 2010, Central Coast, California

With its playful name, strong cherry aroma and deep ruby colour, this wine can cause one to reminisce of a delicious black forest cake.

Apothic Red 2010, California

Intense and sweet aromas of blackberries and vanilla. Inky dark, but a vibrant purple-magenta meniscus. No surprises on the palate, the taste is dominated by jammy red and blackberries and vanilla. Structurally, medium body, and almost non-existant tannins.
I found this wine a little to sweet for my tastes. Reminded me of another overly sweet, Californian blend Cupcake.

Fun light pink/rose in colour. Aromas of fresh citrus and cherries. Smooth and sweet with flavours that match its aroma. Lingering Finish

Peller Estates French Cross Dry Red, 1000ml Carton

Perfect multi-purpose red wine. Great for cooking with and drinking on a budget. Aromas of red berries, with just a hint of spice. Light-medium body and well balanced. Tasted December 2011

Blue Nun Deutscher Tafelwein 2009, Rhein

I found the Blue Nun to have a good strength nose of sulphur, apple and peaches. On the palate I didn't notice any sulphur notes mostly sweet stone fruits, particularly peach, and honey. The acidity nicely balanced out the sweetness, and it had a medium length finish.

Pierre Andre Bourgogne Pinot Noir Reserve Vielles Vignes 2009, Burgundy

Medium-light ruby colour. Aromas of fresh strawberry and cherry, complimented by vanilla, soft smoke, and some earthiness. Dry with medium acidity and present, but soft tannins. A smoky, minerality come through on the palate, along with cherry and vanilla. Medium finish.
