The 2012 Nugan Alfredo Dried Grape Shiraz, where grapes sourced from Riverina and McLaren Vale were dried (as the name suggests) prior to fermentation and the wine was afterwards aged in French and American Oaks for 12 months. The wine has seductive notes of sour cherry, black cherry, blackberry, vanilla and wood on the nose and sour and black cherries, dates, coconut and light vanilla on the palate. It is a full bodied, extra-dry/dry, fruity to integrated wine; with good, refreshing acidity, refined tannins (decant for 15+ min) and a long finish. This is sipping wine; drink 2014-2017+ (screw cap enclosure). My impression: NICE to BEAUTIFUL, 90-91 pts – Amarone style wine for half the price – recommended for its quality and value. Tasted in Jul/14.
