This is an understated, slightly wild, edgy and authentic pinot, a bit leaner and more Burgundian (Cote de Nuits)...
Pleasant, fruity, relatively soft, dark cherry flavours, juicy acids and decent length. A well made, commercial style...
Spicy, earthy and a little sweaty with distinctive nettle/bramble and dried leaf that is so common in Oregon pinots....

Very fruity at first sniff, in the strawberry-cherry-rhubarb spectrum. More of the same on the palate, but with airing it developed some stemmy, herbaceous notes that reminded me more of gamay than pinot. A bit unusual, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it doesn't quite hit the bulls-eye for me... there are better choices at the $20 price point.
Sorry Castle Rock, but I find this Pinot to be really unbalanced with a short finish. The body is light and watery and the flavours are sour. The only thing this Pinot has going for it, is that is smells a tad Burgundian. I don't see too many people getting excited over this wine.
