This lives up to the Malivoire reputation for doing Gamay so well. Light crimson in colour with a slight pink hue, the nose is perfumed with a whiff of baking spice, licorice, iodine and bandaid. The fruit is tart in the sour cherry, currant and pomegranate range. Palate is peppery. But it is the mouth watering acidity and chalky minerality that defines this Gamay. Excellent length. A touch of perceived sweetness rounds out the finish offering a counter point to the tart start. An extremely food friendly wine. Try with grilled pork chops marinated in a cider vinegar vinaigrette.
