N Sentido 2005, Do Ribera Del Duero

Intriguing, fruity, herbal, spicy - fine complexity in a modern style without excessive oak. Dry, sweet, ripe but...

"...tannin free"?? nonsense.
this is actually quite oaky and tannic. much more so than one would expect from only 8 months in barrels. drinking well now but this could do with a few more years in the bottle to round everything out perhaps. i think the fruit should hold up well. decant for an hour or so. It has a slight earthy funk to it...but not offputting. dry and dusty, a bit rustic but all in the name of "oomph!". A good food wine...something with plenty of flavour to compete with this good spanish wine.
medium length dry finish...
would buy more.
