The 2011 Fontanafredda Briccotondo Barbera Piemonte has appealing aromas of lees, cranberry, wood and pine on the nose and cherry and black cherry on the palate. It is a medium bodied, extra-dry, fruity wine; with forward/refreshing acidity, soft tannins (no need for decanting) and a medium finish. This is a food friendly wine; drink now – 2017+ (cork enclosure). My impression: NICE, 87-88 pts. Tasted in Sep/14.
