I am reviewing the 2006 vintage. This light to medium bodied wine has integrated to aged notes of raspberry and red currant compote as well as violets, plentiful wood notes and subtle vanilla aromas. Tannins are tannic (decant for half to one hour) and the finish is medium to long. It has the potential to age for 5 to 10 more years, but the fruit will disappear, so drink now. The finish is medium to long and quite metallic. This wine is to be consumed with food - not really a sipper. My impression: NICE, 88.5 pts - if you like tannic, aged wines, this one is for you. Tasted June/10.
My previous rating was for the 2005 vintage. This Sardinian wine (my first from that region) is medium bodied, integrated with intense fragrances of red currant, leather and cedar. Tannins are refined (decant for up to half and hour) and the finish is medium to long. It should be great to drink for the next five years. My impression: NICE TO BEAUTIFUL, 90 pts, great value - a recommended buy. Tasted May/10. Unfortunately, Mr. JS had a bad bottle and should give this one another try.
