This blend of several Portuguese varieties catches a lifted, refined nose of black raspberry, cedar, plum and chocolate - very well integrated and precise. It's medium-full, warm, smooth, dense and very well balanced, if a bit hot on the finish. The length is very good to excellent. There is a California feel to this wine, but the finish is firmly Portuguese. Nicely done. Score: 90 (David Lawrason, www.WineAlign.com, Jan 2013)

It's only wine but I like it

A youthful blend of indigenous Portuguese varieties, this captures the essence of the Duoro well. Dark fruits, (blackberry, black cherry) along with dried fruits and well-intergrated oak. The tannin makes its presence felt on the long finish as does a little heat. Really well done wine, fairly value at $20, a steal on sale at $14.75. Could use a year or three of cellaring. Tasted August 2013.

Not nearly smooth enough to deserve a ninety rating, or be worth twenty dollars.
