Remo Farina Le Pezze Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico 2009, Doc

This is lighter amarone but that's not to say a light wine. It has a lifted nose of sour plum/raisin fruit, nougat,...

This amarone is a nice, enjoyable and somewhat complex specimen with a great evolution in the glass. On the initial approach it struck me as dried or cooked fruits such as a cooked strawberry with a slight earthy element, this however quickly took a background to the more long lasting aromas of Dark Chocolate, Coffee and even some leather, and layered together giving the feeling of almost a Strawberry Dark Chocolate candy. The smoothness carried well to the palate and combined with a very slight sweetness that helped balance out the heat and astringency this wine has. Could sit 2-5 Years.
