Kim Crawford Pinot Noir 2010, Marlborough

A simple fruity red with little pinot character; more like merlot. The nose shows mild confected cherry with toffee...
This is too sweet. I like the generous cran-cherry nose with nuances of dried herbs/tobacco and a fresh dug beet...

The 2010 Kim Crawford Pinot Noir is a light bodied, fruity wine with cherry notes. It has refined tannins (decant for 15 min) and a medium, slightly sweeter, mineral finish. Drink now and for the next couple of years. Drink-how: have it with lightly flavoured foods (eg. pizza). My impression: NOTHING SPECIAL to NICE, 87 pts. Tasted Aug/12.

At fourteen percent alcohol, this is a little richer than most Pinots, but the smooth quality of the wine is enticing. Slightly earthy on the nose with dark cherry, plum and a hint of mint.
