Closson Chase Chardonnay 2007, VQA Prince Edward County, Closson Chase Vineyard, Unfiltered

If you ever need proof that Closson Chase’s winemaker, Deborah Paskus, is brilliant, then try this Chardonnay. Medium bright yellow. The nose is filled with baked apple, pineapple, fresh-baked bread and yellow plum. Perfectly balanced, this is a classic wine from a great vintage. Medium-full bodied with a medium-long finish, this wine will evolve and improve in a cellar (3-5+ years), or would make a delicious match now for grilled rosemary chicken with a shiitake mushroom sauce. This 100% PEC-grown chardonnay is crafted in a rather traditional, old world, leesy style, with notable minerality...
Deborah Paskus’ chardonnays are always controversial because they spend a very long time in wood without racking....

Look past the the milk-like appearance and it's one of the most powerful chards to come out of the County. Massive weight and a thick, creamy texture (the winery label reads12.5% but the LCBO-issued sticker says 13.9%) ) set the stage for peach cobbler, buttered popcorn and toasted nuts. Would be a bargain no matter the origin, it's doubly so as a PEC wine. Drink with rich seafood/shellfish, mushroom dishes, and... I'll say it.... cream sauces.
An elegant Chardonnay for sure. This bright Chardonnay tasted with the three Chardonnay lineup stood out as being different but prefer the finish, warmth, structure of the Kocsis Vineyard Chardonnay. This 100% County fruit shows the minerality of the land and citrus notes shine through.
My preference on fatter Chards however.
