Pierre Sparr Schoenenbourg Riesling 2011, Ac Alsace Grand Cru
Alsace, France$22.95
Straw gold colour throughout. Still has a very tight nose - this wine could hold out for the medium term and still improve. Great pineapple and pear flavour, and enough acidity to be refreshing with a bit of bite. Delicious.
Henry Of Pelham Estate Riesling 2012, VQA Short Hills Bench, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$17.95
Dr. Hermann From The Slate Riesling 2013, Qualitätswein
Mosel, Germany$17.95
Loved this bottle, sipped on it over the course of a week.
Pear, apple, and slight petrol nose, sweet finish with actually a bit of effervescence.
Les Trois Couronnes 2014, Crozes Hermitage
Rhône, France$8.25
Great expression of the northern Rhone. Classic peppery, smoky nose with a bit of meat. I recently visited a few Domaines in Cote-Rotie, Condrieu, and Hermitage, and I was extremely pleased with this bottle. Wasn't expecting such a similar tasting experience at this price. Highly recommended!
Château De Vaugelas Le Prieuré Corbières 2013
Languedoc, France$13.95
Probably picked up a bad bottle - first sniff smelled purely like sweaty feet. Was unfortunate but I had other bottles on hand to open.
Lamadrid Single Vineyard Malbec 2012, Agrelo, Mendoza
Mendoza, Argentina$17.00
Decanted for 1h before drinking.
Poured deep ruby/crimson at the core, fading away to a light pink rim. Little bit of welcome sedimentation in the glass.
Smells of black berries, currant, chocolate, and a bit of graphite. High alcohol, but in great balance. More acid than I expected from a 100% Malbec, which makes this able to stand up to stronger foods or cheeses. Excellent to fantastic length. 93 points, amazing value, I will be buying more.
