Burmester 10 Year Old Tawny Port, Dop, Portugal
Douro, Portugal$29.95
For me it was plummy with a caramel finish. It goes great with chocolate and was a good Valentine’s Day purchase. Cheers!
Lamole Di Lamole Chianti Classico Riserva 2009, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$37.95
It has fruit and spice aromatics and for me it was a little tough but the structure was ok due to the balance with the high alcohol (14%) content against heavy tannin. It has a woody smell of dirty casks - just the way I like it. I hope it was ok that I was drinking this while watching the hockey game....
Mountadam Estate Chardonnay 2009, High Eden, Eden Valley, South Australia
South Australia, Australia$23.95
How do you maintain a happy relationship? I'd suggest you could start by sharing a good bottle of chardonnay. This one has good a depth of flavour and a classic chardonnay taste, I certainly enjoyed it. Tasted with someone I love.
Flat Rock Gravity Pinot Noir 2012, VQA Twenty Mile Bench
Ontario, Canada$29.95
Good bottle for the first BBQ of the year, should have gotten two. Light and easy to drink, definite cherry nose and taste...
Domaine Faiveley Mercurey 2012, Ac
Burgundy, France$24.95
This pinot is from the Cote Chalonnaise region of Burgundy. It has a nice ruby colour with good balance of acidity and tannins. I got pleasent notes of fresh berries, cherry and spice, it was thoroughly enjoyed out on the deck with some bbq.
Robert Mondavi Private Selection Central Coast Chardonnay 2013
California, Usa$16.95
“All things in moderation, with a few glorious exceptions.”- Robert Mondavi. A great mama's day wine it was and really doesn't it only matters if you'll buy it again, I would but so many wines so little time, so many decisions perhaps another glass is in order....
Villa Wolf Riesling 2013, Qualitätswein
Pfalz, Germany$12.95
Classic off-dry style, this qualitatswein (quality) wine from Germany's Rhine valley was excellent with Atlantic lobster. Very good price for a good wine. Cheers
Gunderloch Jean Baptiste Riesling Kabinett 2013, Pradikätswein
Germany$21.95
This is a light semi-dry (Kabinett) wine with a strong mineralic-deepness from the Rheinhessen region next to the impressive Rhein river - it is the good stuff and known as Pradikatswein. A good balance of sweetness with acidity and with relatively low alcohol, 11% in this case. It is a quality wine for a very good price that I plan to have with my Easter turkey, if there's any left that is (not talking about the turkey). Tasted more than a sip.
Cono Sur Bicicleta Pinot Grigio 2014
Central Valley, Chile$9.95
This is a good value wine with nice a peachy finish but a little thin or me. I had this with leftovers - "no family trees, no dusty bottles, just quality wine" but I like dusty bottles...
Graffigna Grand Reserve Malbec 2012, San Juan
San Juan, Argentina$17.95
Ah this wine has legs and a lingering finish. It is the 100th anniversary bottle for the winery and was aged for 12 months in oak and in the bottle for another 6. I used it as my “we have unexpected company coming” wine and with good result. Violet, full body and at 14.5 % I think it deserves another taste. Cheers.
