Argento Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, Mendoza

This wine is rated excellent for its price point. subtle oak resonates in the background, giving way to cassis, blackberry, blueberry and violet overtones, tobacco and even a touch of leather undertones. Juicy but not flimsy, this wine is a little alcoholic for its structure but for the price, not to be missed.

Catena Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Hot dry herbals on the nose, sweet mildly spicy fruit on the palate supported by structured tannins and great length underscored with young oak. Great on the deck with BBQ meats.

Xplorador Carmenere 2012, Central Valley

A hot and spicy Chilean wine, dry with green and earthy undertones. Definite cedar in the nose, juniper in the mouth with purple fruitiness topnote. Enjoyed this on a hot and sultry night, with a plate of chorizo, walnuts and Ciel de Charlevoix.

Vinos Sin Ley M Old Vine Monastrell 2011, Do Yecla

Flowery, oaky, big and bold. Good with roasted or barbecued leg of lamb.

Farnese Fantini Sangiovese 2012, Igt Daunia

Soft tannins, dry wood, balanced acidity, smooth and delectable for the price. Spiced Gouda, Edam, Havarti and pâté friendly.

Château Puyfromage Côtes De Francs 2009, Bordeaux

A bit arid for a Bordeaux, but always a reliable value. Excellent with lamb, asparagus, boiled potatoes - a spring wine, really :)

Argento Bonarda 2011, Mendoza

Bright, juicy, velvety, with grapeskin aftertaste. This is just the wine to sip on the deck on a hot summer night.

Château Cailleteau Bergeron 2012, Ac Blaye Côtes De Bordeaux

Mysterious garnet in the glass with a typical Bordeaux leathery nose and stemmy, dusty, long finish.

Dan Aykroyd Cabernet Shiraz 2011, Niagara Peninsula
