A classic that never disappoints. Iron/graphite minerality right off the bat, followed by gorgeous cassis, dark cherry fruit, and just a touch of perfectly judged cigar box. Gorgeous, lifted, layered nose. Vibrant acidity, youthfully firm but very fine tannins, superbly balanced. The purity of fruit is superb. Complex and long. GV and sure to keep a decade. 17+

This wine is absolutely rocking. It showcased so much confidence in its restrained, Old World, place-driven style of winemaking and it absolutely succeeded at it. Incredible balance as well between mineral, fruit, freshness, acid, astringency, etc. It got better on the second day open, and I think it'll develop wonderfully over the next 4-5 years.

The wine opens with a fruit-forward nose with in blackberry and red cherries bolstered by ample cedar-y oak spice and rather significant herbaceousness. The somewhat rough and rustic nature continues on the palate, with rather dusty tannin, earthy flavours, and thin red fruit. Acidity is fine and the wine has a certain freshness, but all in all a simple and rather thin wine that absolutely requires food to shine
