Le Vieux Pin Syrah 2010, BC VQA Okanagan Valley
British Columbia, Canada$45.00
The wine pours dark purple. Intense fresh ground pepper on the nose. The taste starts with soft, supple fruit. On the finish the pepper comes screaming back for a spicy kick. A beautiful example of a great BC wine.
Zenato Ripassa Valpolicella Superiore 2009, Doc
Veneto, Italy$25.95
Deep purple in colour, found it a bit herbaceous on the nose with intense dark fruit. Opened the bottle two hours prior to drinking it, it was smooth and voluptuous with a good dash of acidity. Black Cherry was the most powerful flavor, with a bit of spice and earth creeping in on the finish. Zenato is a favorite producer of mine, and I was not disappointed with this bottle.
