Giacomo Borgogno & Figli 'no Name' 2015, Langhe
Piedmont, Italy$51.04
This is a real treat, both for its story and its performance as a Barolo in all-but-name. It's rich and structured, with abundant fruit, plenty of acid on display, and quite soft tannins. Highly recommended.
Vignamaggio Gherardino Riserva Chianti Classico 2015, Docg, Tuscany
Tuscany, Italy$30.95
A very well-made wine, with nice integration of flavours after 7 years of aging. Quite fruity and well-balanced underneath, but with an overarching grassy, herbaceous quality that isn't quite my thing.
Pierre Sparr Mambourg Gewurztraminer Alsace Grand Cru 2018, Ac
Alsace, France$28.95
Fragrant, floral and decidedly off-dry, I can't think of a great food match, but it more than delivers the goods as a standalone summer evening refreshment. This delicious nectar isn't always available, but I will be buying it by the case when I find it.
