Benjamin Bridge Nova 7 2010, Gaspereau Valley
Nova Scotia, Canada$24.95
Very nice, a must have if you are interested in exploring Canadian wine off the main stream. Off dry with a fine sparkle, lovely layers from the first sip. Delightful floral nose and you can't miss the grapefruit and ginger. Long finish. Summer salad, mild cheese Tasted twice 2010 and July 2011
Château De Fontenelles Cuvée Renaissance 2006, Ac Corbières
Languedoc, France$18.95
I held this first bottle for 2 years and on opening discover a soft nose and a heavy wine. it required a long opening, i aired it well. Dark friut a delightful soft finish for a complex layering of dark fruit and earth.
I enjoyed matching it up with a firm goat cheese salad and a bison steak with mushrooms. The second botte should hold well for at least another 14 mths. excellant value ****
Tawse Growers Blend Pinot Noir 2008, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$24.95
I have the highest respect for Tawse I love their winery and one of the truly great success stories in Canadian wine. I purchased this 2008 Pinot Noir in the summer of 2010 and have just now in winter 2012 opened it, it is an outstanding wine. The colour is light and bright and the nose explosed with raspberry the aromas are embracing. Balanced layers of wood and herb. The finish has a soft pepper and long slow finish. I have another bottle cellared and next Christmas I will visit it and see what a little more age brings. Its wood should soften and the fruit may jumo forward more.
Ghost Pines Winemaker's Blend Cabernet Sauvignon 2007, Napa County/Sonoma County
California, Usa$19.95
Thalvin Cuvée Première De Thalvin 2007, Aog Zenatta, Cabernet Sauvignon/Grenache
Morocco, World$11.25
This is a jewel, one of the delights in collecting and experiencing wine, is in the 'find' anyone can purchase a $100 bottle of wine with pedigree. The joy is finding the hiddle jewel, this is one. at under 15$
Soft and light both on the nose and in first taste. Plum and strawberry, you have mild tannins that round is out to be a great bottle of wine. I'm hoping that it olds with a couple of years, which will be the Cab aging.
This is a delightful casual meal opener, it was a hit with a soft blue goat on a fall afternoon.
Buy 2 at least.
