WineAlign Buy the Case Product Call

We are always looking for wines to include in our new Buy the Case program.

Wines must be already here in consignment or will be here soon. This program is to help you move wine that you have here in stock already.

There are no themes or price restrictions on the samples you send us. We are just looking for great wines to recommend in any style or price category. The process will be similar to our Exchange process where our team will review the wines independently and then, as a group, choose the top wines to recommend.

If your wine is chosen, you will be able to enter the number of cases you would like to allocate to this program in your agency’s admin area in WineAlign. This amount can be edited and changed whenever you like.

Consumers will be able to purchase your wines through WineAlign the same way we handle follow-on sales for our Exchange wines. Your organization will receive an order email from us which you can process like any other direct order. You only need to add the shipping fees and upload the invoice to WineAlign, and we will process the transaction. You will then ship the wine directly to the customer.

There will be our standard 10% commission on the base cost of the wine. In addition, there is a 2.9% credit card transaction processing fee plus $0.30 per transaction charged by our payment processor, Stripe. Note that the sales commission is calculated on the base cost of the wine. Total transaction fees including taxes generally work out to 13.2% per case sold.

Program Benefits:

  • All wines will be reviewed and added to our database.
  • Even if they don’t get selected for the newsletter, they will, by default, be available for DTC sales.
  • You will grow your database with new customers (who will buy wine by the case).
  • Even if they don’t sell well, the wines are being marketed to our database which should help the brand.
  • The amount allocated to this program can be changed at any time. Scarcity means acting quicker on the next offer.
  • You are paid before you ship the wine to the customer; no chasing down payments.
  • All purchasing is completely automated – you don’t deal with credit cards, we do.
  • Financial transactions are directly with the customer. They get a receipt from your organization.

How will it work?

  • You register your agency with our Merchant Gateway and provide your banking information. Click here for more information about how this works.
  • We facilitate the transaction and the customer will receive a purchase email from you with your logo and contact information.
  • Consumer’s credit card statement will say: “WINE – Your Agency/Winery”.
  • Money will be deposited into your Merchant Gateway account immediately less a 10% commission (+HST) and credit card processing fees (2.9% + $0.30/transaction). Merchant Gateway balances are transferred to your bank account every few days.
  • You will receive an (already paid) invoice for our commission at month end to allow you to reconcile your books.

What are your costs?

  • A 10% commission on the base cost of the wine + HST
  • A credit card processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30/transaction
  • Cost to deliver wines to the customer

Samples should be clearly marked that they are for a Buy the Case tasting and should include a completed spreadsheet/submission form (download here).
