A solid purchase at under $18 with a substantial concentration of seriously high quality grapes. Rich raspberry, strawberry and ripe cherry fruit are laced together with notes of lavender and sweet herbs. A subtle earthy element grounds this generous and open wine ready for immediate consumption but which could also be happily cellared for several years. Being someone who cannot tolerate a high level of tannins in my wine, I was very impressed with this wine.
I would have given this delicious and affordable Beaujolais a higher rating but I was really hoping for a stronger bouquet. But what it lacked in nose, it made up for in a nice, dry flavour full of sour cherries, subtle red berries and herbs. A beautiful sipping red by itself or I would even pair with mild cheeses. A definite buy again in my books.
