Savoury, mushroomy, earthy, mature old school Bairrada here from traditionalists Sidonio de Sousa; most of the fruit...
This is a very approachable structured ripe red with a complex nose of red and black berry fruit with smoke, bacon...
Food Pairing: a hearty chili con carne or cassoulet.

A hint of dried strawberry gives way to the dark fruit influence of black cherry and plum, but is further overshadowed by notes of wet leaves, cigar box, smoke, pencil shavings, black pepper, violet, and a herbal element. Medium bodied with acidity to match and very fine tannins. Very good length allows the flavours to linger on the palate.
Another gem from the wine exchange!
It's been awhile since I've had such a mature, earthy and leathery wine in this style. John has described well. Very enjoyable.
