No winery offers a better window onto the world of organic winemaking than Frogpond Farm; with a belief that natural balances build stronger vines that can survive without chemical pesticides and herbicides, it’s Ontario’s first winery to produce certified-organic wine and the only one that produces organic wine exclusively. The winery also gets its electricity from a renewable energy source. Jens Gemmrich and Heike Koch opened the winery in 2001, focusing on a small range of solid, traditionally styled Cabernet-Merlot, Riesling and, more recently, Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc rosé, Gamay and Icewine.
