Château Des Charmes Old Vines Riesling 2012, VQA Niagara On The Lake
Ontario, Canada$16.95
Great Riesling. Paired it with a roast turkey and honey glazed ham for Easter and it complimented perfectly. Great nose of wild flowers, pear and green apple. Acidity was tart but not overbearing.
Cusumano Nero D'avola 2013
Sicily, Italy$11.95
Along with the outstanding value, this wine offers a fruity yet astringent palate. Detected leather, raspberry and black cherry aromas. Pairs well with sharp cheeses (esp. calciocavallo) and salamis (if they contain fennel even better as it compliments so well). Holds up well to my Bolognese and when I grill beef on the BBQ.
J. Lohr Riverstone Chardonnay 2013, Arroyo Seco
California, Usa$19.95
Fantastic, easy drinking California chardonnay. The butterscotch notes and the golden hue have made this one of my favourites.
Spadafora Terrano Rosso 2012, Calabria
Calabria, Italy$7.95
Solid red wine with excellent fruit and hint of new leather. Excellent go to for daily dinner.
Gérard Bertrand Languedoc Syrah/Grenache 2011, Ap
Languedoc, France$16.95
Fantastic tannins and great compliment to grilled prime rib steaks. Incredible nose of red fruit and faint tobacco, balanced acidity and nice finish.
Peller Estates Family Series Cabernet Merlot 2009, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$12.95
Good blend and nice tannins. Undertones of spice, earth and wet leather. Enough of a dry mouth feel to enjoy the wine. I recommend this a good party wine, which can be enjoyed.
Peller Family Series Sauvignon Blanc 2013, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$12.95
Solid wine, acidity was a bit on the tart side, but nothing overpowering. Great compliment to a French inspired mussels recipe (both as a cooking liquid and to drink with the meal). Good go to, value priced and with a few Niagara sliced peaches in the glass, could be a summer treat on the patio/deck/dock.
