Founder, Wine Education Director
Global Wine Tour
I founded Global Wine Tour in 2006, with Steve Thurlow, an important wine reviewer for www.winealign.com, teaching students about the world of wine, one country or region at a time. During this time, I studied through IWEG (Independent Wine Education Guild), and started with WSET (Wine & Spirits Education Trust) Level 2, and then completed Level 3: Advanced.
After becoming certified by the WSET, I then began teaching wine as well, continuing to work with Steve Thurlow. I teach the "Introduction To Wine Tasting" and "Exploring Wine Varieties" workshops, and Steve continues to teach the "Exploring The Wines Of...." evening tasting tours. Some destinations toured in evenings include Bordeaux, Burgundy, Southern France, South Africa, Argentina, New Zealand, Chile, California, British Columbia, Italy, and Portugal & Greece. In addition, I added an afternoon workshop entitled "The Art Of Wine & Food Matching", also taught by Steve Thurlow.
Global Wine Tour now offers 4 different types of workshops, and many students have attended multiple events that I offer due to their enjoyment of their workshops, and interest in learning more in afternoon or evening events due to the variety offered. I have also done numerous in-home tastings for 10 people or more, working with Aeroplan. In addition, private corporate events have been taught by me including CIBC, TD Canada Trust and Equifax.
Some other things I've been through in the wine industry included being the Logistics Manager for the Toronto "Salute" Wine Festival, wine tastings at LCBO's, visiting restaurants for wine sales with Amethyst Wine Agency, and being the web developer, and continued webmaster responsibility with IWEG (www.iweg.org).
This website has now exceeded 200 pages, with student access to all PP presentations, videos, images, and other downloadable files for wine studies. A new section for the Level 4 Diploma level program has just been added, with video and presentations from John Szabo MS (Master Sommelier), one of the key wine reviewers here at winealign.com. The website built and managed by me is now one of the largest and most comprehensive websites in the world for International Certified WSET schools, with secure access to all different levels of study!
I love all kinds of wine, and enjoy working within multiple facets of the wine industry. But teaching wine to people is something I enjoy the most, and almost always get applause and positive remarks from everyone attending Global Wine Tour events!

Whitecliff Sauvignon Blanc 2009, Marlborough
New Zealand$14.95
This Sauvignon Blanc has some slight fruit aroma, in addition to the expected green vegetal notes. Fruit aromas include green apple, and some citrus. The green aromas also include the expected asparagus and green pepper, but what makes this wine a little different is its mixed aromas & flavours of both some fruit and vegetal notes.
Acidity is a medium +, unlike others from New Zealand that tend to be at higher levels. It has an expected medium length finish. Overall, the mixture of aromas, slightly lower acidity and its length of finish all add up to make it a pretty good wine!
