K W V Contemporary Collection Chenin Blanc 2014, Western Cape
Western Cape, South Africa$9.45
What a great value for money. It is nice and sweet with good floral and citrusy notes. Good balance between the sweet and the dry. One of the best value for money white wines you can get and it is my normal house white. At $9.45 it is a great deal, on sale ($7.95) it's just incredible. Time to go stock up....
Grão Vasco 2009
Dão, Portugal$8.25
A perfectly drinkable red wine, but nothing spectacular, but for $8.00 it is definitely a good value buy
Deinhard Green Label Riesling 2012, Mosel Saar Ruwer, Germany
Germany$11.95
This is a great wine for those who like sweeter rieslings. It has strong notes of Green Apple as well as honey. Good value for money
Jackson Triggs Niagara Estate Reserve Chardonnay 2011, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$12.95
I like the creamy smoothness, went well with the spicy chicken we were eating but that bitter finish really lets the side down. A decent wine but you can do better for $12.00
Inniskillin Niagara Estate Late Autumn Riesling 2012, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$13.95
I am reviewing the 2013, because the 2012 is not on this list but this is the best Riesling I have tried and one of my favourite whites. Nice, sweet (but not overly sweet) and refreshing, great on a summer evening sitting on the dock.
Hungaria Grande Cuvée Brut
Hungary$14.20
I will start by admitting I only bought this bottle because it was the cheapest bottle of bubbles in the LCBO. Now that is out of the way, this is a surprisingly decent sparkling. It's very dry, with a bit of a sour, green apply taste. The bubbles are very prominent, but not overwhelming, but it exceeds all expectations and then some for $12 bubbles.
