Sartori Di Verona Reius Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico 2007
Veneto, Italy$75.00
Color: Shimmering ruby. Bouquet: Dried fruits, raisins, cherry compote with cocoa notes. Taste: Round and full-bodied; deep fruit flavors, and supple tannins; a cinnamon spice finish.
Chateau Timberlay 2010, Ac Bordeaux Superieur
Bordeaux, France$16.45
Chateau Timberlay Bordeaux Superieur has a beautiful bright deep ruby colour. On the nose, this wine is fine, intense and complex. A blend of aromas of red fruit (candied fruit), vanilla, spice, leather and lightly oaked notes. On the palate, it is soft on the attack. The wine is very round and well-balanced. Fruity with good silky tannins and a long vanilla aftertaste.
Château De Vaugelas Le Prieuré Corbières 2011
Languedoc, France$13.95
This inexpensive Corbieres goes above and beyond. The aroma is bright and complex, with strawberry, red cherry, damp earth, cinnamon, and pepper. On the palate the wine is layered, offering many faces before settling down into strawberry and cocoa, with a good deal of musty earth underneath. The finish betrays an impressive structure. Highly recommended.
Cantele Riserva Salice Salentino 2009, Doc
Puglia, Italy$14.95
The Cantele Salice Salento [sic] comes from the Salentine peninsula in southeastern Italy, known as the “heel of the boot.” The wine is a blend of 85 percent negroamaro, a grape that produces dark, dense, earthy wines, and 15 percent malvasia nera, which adds aromatics. The resulting deep red wine is medium- to full-bodied, with a complex, enticing aroma. The delicious flavor includes layers of dark cherry, spice and earth, with notes of vanilla from oak aging. This is a smooth, clean wine with an alcohol level of 13 percent. It is well-balanced with lots of character and ends with a nice, long finish.
