Col D'orcia Poggio Al Vento Brunello Di Montalcino Riserva 2006
Tuscany, Italy$79.25
Tasted onsite in Tuscany at the winery.
Stags' Leap The Leap Cabernet Sauvignon 2010, Napa Valley
California, Usa$119.95
John Szabo – For the Napa collector, invite him to compare this wine, preferably blind, with more expensive versions. In the perilously over-valued world of Napa cabernet, this is an example with true depth, complexity and concentration that’s worth the money. There won’t be any disappointment. A wine of genuine depth, structure and concentration, which relies on fruit depth and extract to carry the weight rather than extraneous oak. It also offers solid complexity and length, with no small measure of refinement. Already drinking well, but surely better in 3-5 years. Fine, balanced wine. Tasted November 2014.
Pieropan La Rocca Soave Classico 2013, Doc
Veneto, Italy$30.25
Elegant. Refined. Beautiful nose - floral. White. Green apple and lemon chiffon. Hint of lactic. On palette it was structured: high acid chalky backbone tempered by roundness. Lovely length and finish with a hint of bitterness betraying its Italian heritage. The alcohol is barely perceived though 13%. I can see why this is a benchmark.
