Piemaggio Il Maggio Chianti Classico 2014

A beautifully ruby colour with garnet rim. The nose is fragrant with dried red cherry and red currant, with notes of mint, leather, tobacco, vanilla. And Tuscan dust. Medium and dusty tannings. Acidity is balanced and length is good.

Chateau Les Bugadelles Réserve 2017, La Clape

Very herbal and earthy. Notes of anise, blackberry, smoke, menthol, wet leaves, dark volcanic minerality, and black pepper which permeates the nose and carries forward to the palate. The wine is dry. Medium body with very fine, medium minus, tannins and medium acidity. Great length.

Vignato Davide Gambellara Classico El Gian 2018

The nose is dominated by saline, minerality, herbs, and lemon, but with supporting notes of d’anjou pear, and unripe peach. Acidity is high with medium plus body. Excellent length.

Il Palagio Di Panzano Chianti Classico Docg 2016

Notes of sour cherry, black cherry, blackberry, dark chocolate, leather, pepper. Medium bodied with high acidity. Tannins are medium and gritty. Good length.

Domaine Gendron Cuvée Clos Cartaud Vouvray 2018, A.C.

Notes of lemon, pear, red apple, and hints of vanilla and walnut. Palate is dry and balanced, but elevates the nose by adding richness. Definitely acidity driven with good length.

Ant Moore Sauvignon Blanc 2019

This wine exemplifies what I would expect in a Sauvignon Blanc from this region. Very tropical. Notes of grass and gooseberry off the start until the lime zest, grapefruit, passion fruit, pineapple, green apple, and flint take over. Medium bodied with high acidity. Very good length.

J.M. Sohler Les Terrasses Pinot Noir 2017, Alsace

My first Alsatian Pinot Noir. Pale ruby coloured in the glass. Ripe fruit dominates the nose with notes of stewed strawberry, raspberry, cherry, blackberry, cassis, rhubarb, sweet leather, cigar box, and a slight kerosene note I have come to expect from the region. The wine is dry, medium bodied, high acidity, and soft tannins that have an edge on the finish.
