Cookoothama Shiraz 2006, Darlington Point, New South Wales
Australia$11.50
The story behind this label is pretty interesting. The hands represent the aboriginal children in Australia. When it comes to Australian Shiraz, you must expect a powerful experience, specially if the friut, like in this case, comes from the warmest wine growing regions.
Made by the Nugan family, who also has a great story of overcoming difficulty. This shows the passion behind this winery and the intensity of the Riverina sun-rich land.
Ironstone Vineyards Obsession Symphony 2007, California
California, Usa$14.95
I've found that this is a perfect wine to introduce it to non-wine drinkers. Its sensibly sweeter than the average white wine, plus the citrus and complex floral aromas show the potential complexity of wine, to those who think that if you are able to find chocolate or honney flavours in wine, you have probably drunk too much of it.
Remarkable spicy-food pairing abilities, and from a family-owned winery (that's always a plus, believe me) that is truly commited to protect the environment.
