Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc 2014, Marlborough, South Island
Marlborough, New Zealand$26.95
My 2 go to Kiwi sauvignon blancs used to be oyster bay, and if a special occasion; cloudy bay. Found my new fav priced in the middle of the these 2. If you are a fan of whites from new zealand, i reco giving this one a try.
Dog Point Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2012, Marlborough, South Island
Marlborough, New Zealand$24.95
Love this white, i think even more so than cloudy bay and at price point close to oyster bay.
Clare Hills Shiraz Cabernet 2008, Adelaide Hills
Australia$12.45
Great, great wine for the $$. Good depth, hints of chocolate and plum. Recently served this at a wine and cheese party (along with over a dozen other wines) and this one quickly became one of the crowd favorites. Too bad the LCBO stopped carrying it.
Matua Hawke's Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2014
Hawke's Bay, New Zealand$17.95
In my family not everyone is a fan of NW whites. Personally i think this wine is fantastic for the price. Very fragrant on the nose - I enjoy smelling this wine as much as drinking it. Lots of citrus and melon.
Domaine Fontaine Du Clos Reflets De L'âme Vacqueyras 2011, Vacqueyras
Rhône, France$17.25
Recently served this a party. A few found it overly rich but overall a crowd favourite. Full mouth, jammy - almost sweet, and peppery. Long silky finish. Great wine for the price.
The Insider White By Knappstein 2010, Clare Valley
Australia$6.95
Fresh and crisp, but very, very light. No suited for those that yearn a richer wine. Best paired with light fare with little spice as this wine will easily become overpowered with more savory dishes. Mistakenly had it with some spicy tai and it tasted just short of water.
Legón Crianza 2008, Do Ribera Del Duero
Ribera Del Duero, Spain$15.95
Read some good review an bought a few bottles. I was a bit underwhelmed - the wine is good; not great. As other review states, plum, leather, tobacco - he is right on, however, i found the wine lacked character and bite (if that is an appropriate description). Better crianzas available at this price.
Domaine De Ménard Cuvée Marine 2011, Côtes De Gascogne
Southwest, France$10.75
LCBO currently has this wine on clearance. At $10.75 a bottle this is a fantastic value. Full mouth and surprisingly long finish.
Monte Tondo Soave Classico 2011, Doc
Veneto, Italy$16.95
Found this wine a bit on the light side. Some hint of green apple and pear; little depth but decent length. I would pair with light fair as it will easily be over powered by richer foods. Cannot bring myself to rate higher than 85, but good value for the price.
Castillo De Monseran Garnacha 2012
Aragón, Spain$9.95
A very decent everyday table wine. Good body, great with bbq meats. At under $10 an outstanding value
