Pearl Morissette Cuvée Black Ball Riesling 2015, Product Of Canada
Ontario, Canada$36.20
2017, not 2015
Château De Beaucastel Coudoulet De Beaucastel 2007, Ac Côtes Du Rhône
Rhône, France$29.95
Even at $30 for a CDR, it's a bargain. could easily be a $50 - $60 CNDP. Silky smooth, very spicy, opulent, rich, full of licorice and black fruit. Still lots of tannins, but drinking nicely now and will only improve. Outstanding finish for an outstanding wine.
Tawse Sketches Of Niagara Riesling 2010, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$17.95
Couldn't agree more with the other reviews. The 2010 is stunning for $18. Great green apple with a nice petrol tinge. Lots of citrus too but a slight sweetness and a lovely long finish balance this wine perfectly. Can't wait for the 2011!
Katogi & Strofilia Xinomavro 2005, Ao Naoussa
Naoussa, Greece$15.75
Every bit as good as the reviews suggest, and then some! Definitely would have mistaken for a Barolo. It's big and complex with lovely fruit. Extreme acidity make it a touch strident, and tannins still a bit rough, so suspect a few hours of decanting would help, as would another 5 years or more of aging. Nicely complex, extremely long finish and delicious all the same!
Thirty Bench Small Lot Gewurztraminer 2021, VQA Beamsville Bench
Ontario, Canada$32.00
2020, not 2021
Tyrrell's Rufus Stone Shiraz 2007, Heathcote, Victoria
Australia$22.95
I actually agree with the poster who gave it an 84. I was totally surprised by this after the '06, which was outstanding, rich, plush, ageworthy and simply delicious. The '07 tastes like an entirely different product. I'll stick with my case of '06
Frescobaldi Castello Di Pomino 2006, Doc Pomino Rosso
Tuscany, Italy$19.95
Very elegant, nice clean refined wine. Tastes very much like a Pinot Noir/Sangiovese blend - you can taste both grapes in this. Lovely red berry - lots of fruit, but still very dry with some soft tannins. Silky, very long finish. Excellent value!
Monte Antico Sangiovese/Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon 2006, Igt Toscana
Tuscany, Italy$15.95
Not sure I get this one and all the great reviews. Quite a nice, silky texture, but rather thin with a short finish and very little complexity. Okay value, but I've had better even at this price.
