Michael’s passion for saké ignited when he first discovered the delicate, refined characteristics it possessed during his travels to Asia and Australia back in 1990. Since then he has strived to spread the love and beauty of Japan's national beverage by sharing his passion and knowledge with others; and in doing so has written several articles on saké in various publications from Toronto to San Francisco. In 2005 Michael took his first saké course from the (SSI) Sake Service Institute that further lead to increasing his studies when he received his Certified Saké Professional (CSP) certification from world renowned saké expert John gaunter (SEC) Sake Education Council in 2007 in New York City. Today Michael has a saké consultation service he offers to the hospitality trade to help increase awareness and knowledge to restaurants by bringing saké to light and helping it get the recognition it truly deserves.
