Concha Y Toro Maycas Del Limarí Reserva Syrah 2009
Limari Valley, Chile$14.95
This has all of the characteristics of a great Syrah (brilliant purple colour, dark chocolate, pepper & spice), save one: price. It is very, very hard to believe that you are drinking a $15 bottle. It is a wine worthy of saving for a special event, yet at a price that allows you to enjoy it on any occasion.
I think the best illustration of how much I enjoyed the wine, is the fact that I bought not one, but two cases. I might add, that this is the first time I have ever bought two cases of the same wine.
Altaïr Sideral 2004, Rapel Valley
Chile$21.85
I absolutely loved this wine. It was one of those wines that you find that you must savour every single sip with zeal and not altogether without relish. For the price, it is very hard to go wrong.
Norman Hardie County Cabernet Franc 2009, Prince Edward County
Ontario, Canada$25.00
Overall, a very disappointing wine. The prior week I had their Pinot, which was one of the nicest Ontario wines I have had the pleasure of enjoying.
Alas, I cannot say the same for the Cabernat Franc.
It had a disagreeable sour taste that I was unable to get past.
Serafino Shiraz 2013, Mclaren Vale, South Australia
South Australia, Australia$26.75
I thoroughly enjoyed this wine. It was a rich powerful McLaren Vale Shiraz, with a long and complex finish. It reminded me of the Elderton Command Shiraz.
Ladies Who Shoot Their Lunch Shiraz 2012, Victoria
Victoria, Australia$35.95
This was a very disappointing wine, especially at this price point. The flavour was single dimensional pepper and overpowering at that. I found it a struggle to finish my glass.
