Masi Costasera Amarone 2006, Veneto
Veneto, Italy$41.95
This wine took my amarone maidenhead (maidenhood?). Thank you, for being strong, yet gentle. Clearly you are an experienced amarone.
Pecchenino San Giuseppe Barolo 2005, Docg
Piedmont, Italy$44.95
New to barolo, but won't be a stranger if it's all this good. Drinking mostly Italian wine lately and am pretty convinced I will transplant my entire life there. Juice and oil, what else does a woman need for crying out loud? Nice, bricky red colour. Licorice, raisin and red curranty flavours. Just enough tannin to give your lips that squeegy feeling. LOVE. See you in Italy.
Henry Of Pelham Baco Noir Reserve 2005, VQA Ontario
Ontario, Canada$24.95
Nom nom! The first Baco Noir I actually liked. I would not to be sad to have more, with a big fat burger off the bbq.
Château Pey La Tour 2007, Ac Bordeaux Supérieur, Réserve Du Château
Bordeaux, France$19.95
Meh. I was underwhelmed, but still the bottle mysteriously vanished down that black hole known as my mouth.
Chateau Des Charmes Generation Seven Red 2009, VQA Niagara On The Lake
Ontario, Canada$11.95
You know, considering it's just $14 it's really not all bad. I wonder what'll happen to this wine if you give it a little time. Tasted a bit overly sweet next to the well-aged amarones and barolos I've been quaffing lately, but you know it is VQA, so give it a shot already. You know you will, because you're a curious wino (like me).
