Sandhill Cabernet/Merlot 2008, BC VQA Okanagan Valley
British Columbia, Canada$20.05
Wow! At 14% and opened a bit young; this was a powerful experience from British Columbia. There were some tart red fruit notes - for sure - that gave way to an intense and thick woodiness. Would definitely give this bottle until 2011+ and put it up against some red meat/game. Price a touch high for this early experience; however.
Lake & River Series Cabernet Franc 2008, VQA Lake Erie North Shore
Ontario, Canada$6.75
This wine was paired with a lasagna on a Tuesday evening; and came as part of the Colio holiday gift-pack from the LCBO that was given to me.
Ripe red fruit quick toward a tart/bitter finish; but easily drinkable.
Not an ideal example of Lake Erie North Shore; but was satisfied with it given the circumstance.
