Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon 2007, Napa Valley Bottle
Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon 2007, Napa Valley
California, Usa
$75.95

This wine is the wine that made me fall in love with Napa Valley Cab Sauvs. There is a rich sweetness to the aroma of this wine with hints of spice and the flavour is complex with toasted oak, dark chocolate and even tobacco and leather.
This is easily one of my favourite wines. Of course it probably helps that the first time I tried it, I shared the bottle with a woman who would become the first Asian I have bed. Of course that's a story for a different website.

Awesome wine from LEEDS certifies Stratus winerey. The 2006 is good, and the 2007 is great. Cab merlot gamay blend with fruit, spice and pepper notes. For 20 bucks, one of my top picks.

Trumpeter Malbec 2008 Bottle
Trumpeter Malbec 2008
Argentina
$10.75

I hosted a charity fundraiser at my house and much to my chagrin the caterers left an entire case of this wine on my back porch. The first three bottles were great. This is a really decent wine with a sort of a fruitier nose than most malbecs (i.e. more of a cherry than a heavy blackberry or cassis) and it pairs well with food. Because it was so readily available (on my porch like I say), I probably over did it and through the next six bottles I found myself enjoying it less. After drinking it with virtually every meal for a week and a half, I had to give the last three bottles to my neighbour

Robert Mondavi Private Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 2008, California Bottle
Robert Mondavi Private Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 2008, California

$17.95

I bought this bottle while on vacation in Guelph, Ontario.
I made it to the liquor store just before closing and grabbed it because it had a nice gold foil neck.
Unfortunately, as I was returning to my motel room, I stumbled and snapped the head off the bottle, spraining my wrist and ruining my favourite cardigan in the process. Luckily most of the wine didn't spill and, once I filtered it through a sock to ensure there was no broken glass in it, I really enjoyed it. There were solid oak notes and what I thought was a nice medium finish.

Liberty School Cabernet Sauvignon 2008, California Bottle
Liberty School Cabernet Sauvignon 2008, California

This is a really nice, well-priced, middle of the road Cab Sauv. It's got plenty of blackberry notes that balance oak influences. It goes very well with barbecued meats.
Incidentally, spilled Liberty School looks a lot like blood and can cause quite a great deal of confusion if you happen to spill a bottle on a mattress the same week your daughter goes missing.
While this is the same bottle that caused me considerable grief, it's also the only thing that got me through the subsequent trial. One of my faves.
