Les Fiefs D'aupenac 2013, Ac Saint Chinian Roquebrun
Languedoc, France$20.65
Year in and year out, never disappoints. A great wine, and one of the best values at the SAQ. Hat in the cellar of Roquebrun, which produces year after year a supple, elegant wine and overflowing with the perfumes of the soil. Unfortunately I do not keep the bottles long enough to compare the vintages precisely, but the 2014 seems to me equal to 2013 (and vice versa). Oct. 17
Ferreira Dona Antonia Tawny Reserve Port
Portugal$16.60
The rating reflects the value for money. Hard to ask more for 20 bucks. Pleasantly surprised by this very young tawny, which retains many characteristics of a ruby. Alcohol well integrated, not syrupy at all, velvety, but a bit of excessive acidity for my taste. Still, I would buy it willingly. Note is based on QPR. Pleasantly surprised by this intense but refined port. Ruby going on tawny. A tad too bright for my taste, but you can not ask for much more for 20 bucks.
Beronia Reserva 2012, Doca Rioja
Rioja, Spain$21.95
I'm with Bill on this one. If you do not appreciate 'oaky' vanilla onslaughts, you will not dig this wine. In other words, if I wanted to chew on wood, I would be a squirrel.
